Gamma Leporis forms a double star with its near-neighbour AK Leporis, which lies less than two arcminutes to the north, and is so close that the two stars seem to merge in this image. The two stars show similar proper motion across the sky and lie close together in space, implying that they share a common origin. Indeed they may form a widely-separated binary system, and for this reason AK Leporis is sometimes designated as 'Gamma Leporis B'. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
