NotesMirach is an immense red giant, with a diameter approaching 0.8 AU, that emits thousands of time the energy of the Sun. It appears to be a semiregular variable star, and has at least one companion star in a distant orbit.

Andromeda's Beta star is a red giant almost exactly 200 light years from the Solar System. It lies in the central parts of the figure of Andromeda, hence its name: Mirach means 'girdle'.
